WILLCOX — Premier Alliances, Inc., a Cochise County nonprofit working to improve the lives of people with additional needs, has contributed a donation of $2,000 to the Willcox Historic Theater in support of its many inclusive programs.
Following a recent meeting with theater General Manager Gary Clement to learn more about a number of programs he has developed which cater to the needs of all members of the Willcox community, Premier Alliances CEO John Charley saw an opportunity to further his organization’s goal of supporting the needs of people with disabilities.
“Premier Alliances is pleased to support the Willcox Historic Theatre and Gary’s innovative approach to increasing accessibility for everyone who wants to enjoy the magic of movies,” Charley said.
The donated funds will be used to cover the cost of theater programs like Matinee My Way, which screens family films in an environment for children who may have challenges with the traditional theater experience. Movie volumes are turned down, theater lights are turned up, and children are free to leave their seats and roam around the theater, talk and play without families worrying about bothering anyone.
The donation will also support the theater’s Subtitled Movie Screenings, a new program set to debut later this year, and the Speaker Series Program, which seeks to bring in subject matter experts to elaborate on topics covered in classic and modern films.
“I believe that the partnership between the Willcox Historic Theater and Premier Alliances is a step in the right direction to foster not only a trade in ideas but philosophy toward enlightenment of all members of a community,” Clement said.
Based in Bisbee, Premier Alliances, Inc. works to improve the lives of people with additional needs through advocacy, educational outreach and developing employment opportunities throughout the area.
