Premier Alliances’ ongoing support of Step Up Bisbee/Naco is helping another Bisbee resident with additional needs live more comfortably.
Holly Sanders has been living with Multiple Sclerosis for years, and utilizes a wheelchair to assist her mobility needs. This presented challenges within her home in Old Bisbee.
“The bathroom, you had to step down into it, and the shower had this curb around it, so I couldn’t step into the shower,” Holly said this week, as members of Step Up Bisbee/Naco and their subcontractors arrived to begin renovation work. “They’re going to level up the whole floor into one level, so I can go right into the shower. Essentially, they’re making the whole bathroom into a shower room.”
Step Up Bisbee/Naco Board Member Danielle Bouchever said that support from sponsors like Premier Alliances allows their organization to have a wide impact on the community.
“SUBN’s partnership with Premier Alliances makes it possible for so many to do so much in an incredibly efficient and joyful way. Our programs have improved the overall health, wellbeing, environments and security of low income individuals with disabilities, positively impacting their quality of life,” Bouchever said. “As with any such effort, resources such as building materials, equipment and supplies are essential and often the most difficult component to acquire without funding. SUBN appreciates Premier Alliances’ funding to support our mission and its faith in us to accomplish our shared community vision.”
In the past year, Step Up Bisbee/Naco has made substantive improvements to dozens of homes in the Bisbee area. Funding from Premier Alliances directly supported many of these projects, which improved the living situation of people with additional needs or disabilities, to include accessible cabinetry, removing trip hazards, installing safety rails and shower bars, roof repairs, plumbing and electrical upgrades and more.
Premier Alliances will continue to collaborate with our local nonprofit partners and others in the community to identify ways to further our mission of improving the lives of people with disabilities.
